We Won!

We’re honored to announce that the Aging Out Institute awarded The Hope Center at Pullen a 2022 Flame Award for providing outstanding services to young adults aging out of foster care. After a nationwide competitive application process, HCP was selected by peer judges for the high quality of services we provide and the systems we have in place to ensure that our work is effectively meeting the needs of our youth.

We fine-tune and evaluate our effectiveness regularly because each young adult comes to us with a unique history and unique needs. We measure progress quarterly so that our youth can see their growth and feel the effects of their hard work.

Onyx is one of those people.

Last year, she shared her story with you during HCP’s Annual Campaign.

When she closed her letter, she shared that “HCP inspires me to love myself, to think about life in a way other than the grim view I had coming from foster care. They inspire me to be patient, to trust and have faith.”

At the time, Onyx needed to keep trusting because she was living in a hotel waiting on an affordable apartment to become available, all the while continuing to work.

Our community rallied to support Onyx and all of the other youth we served in 2022. Today, Onyx is a proud Hope Center graduate with her own apartment.

She is now giving back to the youth behind her by being a part of our Youth Advisory Board. Onyx is helping us shape programs and will be a role model to the teens coming behind her.

The youth we are serving today need us to rally around them, too. We are 35% of the way to our Annual Campaign goal. Thank you to everyone who has given so far.

If you haven’t yet donated to the Annual Campaign, we need you to help us beat our $110,000 goal so that our award-winning services will be available to every foster teen and former foster youth who wants our help.

The biggest change is I am now the person I dreamed I could be, I can walk right past someone I knew from my past and they would not recognize me today. I talk different, walk different, think differently, and represent myself in a way that makes me proud of myself.
