Our COVID-19 Update:

Our biggest concern is that many of our Transition Program clients work in restaurants or are hourly workers. For those who lose their jobs or are working reduced hours we will be able to help them access the new unemployment benefits being offered during this crisis. These benefits will definitely help but there will still be large gaps and delays in payments. Our clients are experiencing a dramatic loss of income which started last week but will only get worse in the weeks to come. Their ability to maintain their housing and not slide into homelessness is in jeopardy. For some it will depend largely on the amount of financial support the Hope Center is able to provide in the form of emergency rent and utility payments. These bills will add up quickly and are our main concern.

Another concern is our ability to get in touch with some of our clients. Many will need help paying cell phone bills and internet bills. Without a phone or internet our clients will be very isolated and unable to access all of the resources they will need. If we are unable to reach a client by phone our staff will stop by the client’s home to find out what their needs are and make a plan with them. We have agreed on a number of protocols to keep our staff and our clients safe and healthy.

At Raising Hope we will use a website so everyone can bid and donate through their smart phones. We have repurposed that site! You can donate now towards our client’s specific, current needs! Please share the link through social media and forward this email to your friends. Our former foster need your support now more than ever.

The Hope Center at Pullen is an amazing organization with amazing supporters. I’m thankful to be a part of these efforts to support the youth I care about so deeply. Thank you for being our anchor in the storm.
