About the facility

"We are this welcoming, inclusive congregation, and our building screamed 'fortress,' "said the Rev. Nancy Petty, a co-pastor. "Part of the plan for the addition was to project to our community who we are."

Doors Opened in 2009

The Hope Center at Pullen is a continuation of the legacy of Pullen Memorial Baptist Church that includes 125 years of social justice witness in the Raleigh community. With the dedication of our facility on February 1, 2009, we continue our journey.

The Hope Center at Pullen is a bright, window-lit space where program participants, volunteers and mentors meet. Members of Pullen Memorial Baptist Church designed the church’s addition specifically for The Hope Center programs.

Design elements meet space goals for a healthy and comfortable structure that offers reduced maintenance and operation costs. To preserve and protect the environment, the 1634 square-foot space was built using recycled materials. It features a green roof, rainwater cistern, geothermal heating/cooling, and daylighting to take advantage of natural light. It includes four showers and a laundry area.
